Laura Sims is the author of two poetry books: Practice, Restraint, recipient of the 2005 Fence Books Alberta Prize, and Stranger, forthcoming from Fence Books in 2009. She has also published four poetry chapbooks, including Paperback Book (3rd Bed). She has written book reviews and essays for Boston Review, Rain Taxi, and The Review of Contemporary Fiction, and has recently published poems in the journals Denver Quarterly, Colorado Review, and Crayon.
This letterpressed broadside is illustrated with a drawing by Portland, OR graphic designer David Ewald. The broadside was printed by Dexterity Press in Chicago in an edition of 150. The poem previously appeared in the anthology A Sing Economy from Flim Forum Press.
The cover of Bank Book is an original etching by Karl Nelson of the So-and-So Press in Northfield, MN. They were hand-pressed on two different papers at the Highpoint Center for Printmaking in Minneapolis.The text is inkjet printed on linen paper, with mulberry paper endsheets.
Although the ATHP edition of Bank Book is out of print, the poems (and many more) can be found in Laura's Practice, Restraint, published by Fence Books and distributed by Small Press Distribution.
This letterpressed broadside was issued in an edition of 30. The papers vary, and each broadside is signed by the author.
